About Us
Somewhere around 2010, my husband, Chris, decided he wanted to be a farmer. After years of perfecting his gardening skills in the Las Vegas desert on various porches and apartment patios, he was ready to take his passion to the next level, the ground. As an artist, I was growing restless of handing my ideas to others and watching them morph into something incredible, unique and beautiful...but not mine. I had spent almost a decade as a professional maker and hustling entrepreneur and was ready to go all in on something I could call my own. We began to dream. We dreamed of land to grow our own food, self-sustainability, grass our kids could take off their shoes and run in, a home to create, the opportunity to raise animals, a chance to make new friends, and a place to grow closer as a family. In 2012, feeling claustrophobic, watching our friends relocate one-by-one, and tired of never feeling like anything was "enough", we decided to take the leap. We left behind our 16x20' patio and the 2.5 million other people in the city of Las Vegas, and moved here, to the rural countryside of western Wisconsin. In this lush river valley between Ellsworth and Spring Valley we have found our place. We have enough sunshine and enough rain. Enough warm days, and plenty of cold ones, too. We have enough family and friends around to keep us social, and enough quiet time to bring ideas to life. We have enough good food, enough time, and enough love. We are still catching on to this farming thing, but Chris is always planning the next garden, or experimenting with indoor growing, the kids hunt for caterpillars and garden snakes, befriend barn cats, collect eggs, and appreciate our simple lives. I am happier then I have ever been, a thriving artist sharing her creations with the world while learning to appreciate poop under my boots. YB Urban?
